1. Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe — USD 142 million
In May 2022, one of the two Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe models (a hardtop version of the legendary W196S racing car) was sold for a record amount.
In partnership with auction house Sotheby’s, Mercedes-Benz sold one of its coveted Silver Arrow racing cars for 135 million euros ($142 million). The proceeds were awarded to the new Mercedes charity, which “will provide young people with educational and research grants in environmental science and decarbonisation,” the press release said.

The value of one of the most impressive and expensive sports cars ever made by the German brand was almost three times the price of the Ferrari 250 GTO, a classic model sold in Monterey at an open auction in 2018, and more than double the estimated $80 million. paid for the same GTO at a private sale in 2018.
RM Sotheby’s (acting on behalf of Mercedes-Benz) gathered around 10 (or even fewer) carefully selected collectors of fast expensive cars who were not only rich enough to bid, but also met the strict criteria set by the German automaker had set up. The company wanted to ensure that every person who becomes a Silver Arrows racing car owner would treat it with the same care and attention as a Mercedes. The original Ferrari 250 GTO buyers had to be personally approved by Enzo Ferrari before they were given the green light to buy the car. Only 36 units were produced and only a few of them had a different series body.

Each car had Marilyn Monroe’s curves and most of them were done in Ferrari red lipstick color. In June 2018, a version of the 1964 car was rumored to be sold at a private auction for $80 million, making it the most expensive classic car in the world sold privately at the time. Two months later, chassis #3413 was sold at public auction for $48.4 million.
3. Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic — 40 million USD
Bugatti, a French car manufacturer, has produced multi-million dollar cars. However, the most expensive item, which can rightly be called the brand’s queen, is the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic.

In the 1930s and 1940s, more than 700 units of the Bugatti Type 57 were produced – however, only four of them were the Type 57SC Atlantic special edition. Today, one of the three surviving models belongs to Ralph Lauren, the fashion designer. It’s a jet black car with wavy lines, and the designer describes it as “moving art.” The previous sale of the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic took place in California in 2010, where the final bid for the 1936 model reached $30 million. Three years ago it was resold for $40 million.
4. Ferrari 335 S Spider Scagliettis — USD 36 million
The 1957-58 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scagliettis was the expensive car of choice for some of the world’s greatest historic racing drivers, and no wonder: it reached speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour. However, only four items were produced, so they are as rare as four-leaf clovers. However, this does not mean that they will never be offered for sale: in 2016, the 1957 edition of the Ferrari 335 S Spider Scagliettis was auctioned in Paris for 32 million euros (or 36 million dollars at the time).

5. Rolls-Royce Boat Tail — 28 million USD
Rolls-Royce Boat Tail, a modern luxury car, occupies the fifth place in the list of the world’s most expensive cars in 2022. Rolls-Royce, a British premium car manufacturer, will hand-build three examples – each distinguished by color and extras. According to preliminary estimates, the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail will cost $28 million. Boat Tail is the most expensive modern luxury car to travel along the coast in the open, inspired by J-class yachts. The journey from idea to completion took four years.
The 5.8-meter-long car is built on the same spacious aluminum platform as the Phantom, Cullinan and the new Ghost models and has the same 6.75-liter V-12 engine. In addition, this magnificent car is unlike any other Rolls-Royce on the planet.

“Rolls-Royce believes in complete authenticity, and Boat Tail is the culmination of a four-year collaboration with three of our most special customers,” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce.
The “special customers” included Beyoncé and Jay Z, the well-known couple.
The Rolls Royce Boat Tail’s roof cover is not transformable, but you can remove it completely. The owner can open the rear deck by simply pressing the button. The rear of the vehicle is automatically raised and a parasol is opened.
The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail is the first car equipped with an extended parasol and a cocktail table. In addition, it has a separate champagne fridge specially designed to store the bottles of the owner’s favorite wine, Armand de Brignac. As you can see, this luxurious car would be a perfect choice for those who appreciate true luxury.
The torpedo of this rich car is also decorated with an elite Swiss Bovet watch, which can be worn on your wrist or mounted on the dashboard.
6. Aston Martin DBR1 — USD 22.6 million
The Aston Martin DBR1 is another unique classic creation by Aston Martin. This expensive and exclusive car went down in history as one of the three 1950s cars that won the World Sports Car Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the same year. A green frog with a grill that looks like the jaw of a Koi carp is a classic car with character. It was last auctioned at Sotheby’s in Monterey in 2017 and was finally bought for $22.6 million.

7. Bugatti La Voiture Noire — 18.7 million. USD
Seventh place in the ranking of the world’s most expensive supercars is occupied by another Bugatti model called La Voiture Noire (“Black Car” in French), a wonderful supercar made of carbon fiber. The design of La Voiture Noire is a modern interpretation of the Type 57 SC Atlantic created in the 1930s.
According to the well-known motoring magazine Top Gear, this expensive car was created especially for a Bugatti enthusiast and collector “fascinated by the Atlantic”.

The appearance of the car was supposed to be an advanced work of genius, and the beauty of the Bugatti Chiron added inspiration during the design of the hypercar model.
As a result, the high price of the Bugatti La Voiture Noire ($18.7 million) is the result of two main factors: a perfectly crafted carbon fiber body and a powerful engine. And it is the price of a new car that only increases with age when it is resold.
Beyond these two factors, meticulous attention to detail really deserves special praise. To date, only one Noire model has been created, and it is rumored that the happy owner is Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United’s best striker. But it is nothing more than a rumor.
8. Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta — USD 17.6 million
In 2018, the price of an exclusive custom hypercar, the Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta, was finally revealed to instantly make it the most expensive new car in the world. However, the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail later stole the title with its astounding price tag of $28 million.
As the name suggests, the Zonda HP Barchetta is a unique model with a special price tag of $17 million.
The new creation was presented to a very lucky (and very rich) buyer during a special event.

This expensive car was made by order of Oleg Egorov, the owner of TopCar Design. It was painted in total black with a combination of matte and glossy carbon surfaces and a gold stripe running along the central line. It was also complemented with gold brake calipers and suspension components to match the exterior theme.
The Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta Ultra Rare Speedster is equipped with a 7.3 liter V12 engine designed by AMG. The same engine is used in the latest versions of the Zonda and it works in combination with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
9. Rolls-Royce Sweptail — USD 13 million
The one-of-a-kind Rolls-Royce Sweptail was unveiled at the 2017 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, a luxurious and expensive car showroom. It took four years to build and the client who commissioned it is unknown.
The Rolls-Royce Sweptail wasn’t originally created for a specific reason: it was just an order. The car, which was once considered the most expensive in the world, has conquered the hearts of all motorists all over the planet.

One of the best features of this expensive car is the combination of old and new: modern luxury combined with shades of glamor from the 1920s and 1930s. We are talking about the characteristics of the classic Rolls-Royce silhouette combined with innovation and technology. Despite everything we know about it, there’s one thing we don’t know: its owner. This unique and very expensive car is truly one of a kind.
10. Bugatti Centodieci — USD 9.6 million
The Bugatti Centodieci Hypercar (based on the EB110 model from the early 1990s) was introduced a few years ago and a limited edition of 10 items was promised. It was distributed only among longtime customers of Bugatti, including soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo. The price of each copy is set by the manufacturer at $9.6 million.
According to TheSupercarBlog, the Japanese retailer of exotic and cool expensive cars has already announced the sale of one of the future limited-edition Bugatti Centodieci hypercars for an incredible $14 million. Not only is this much higher than the original price of this expensive car, but it hasn’t even been produced yet. Bugatti Centodieci only collected advance payments from the buyers, but did not give them anything in return. The Japanese dealer will hand over the all-new hypercar to the buyer.

Speaking of the Bugatti Centodieci, we must mention that it is much more than just an exclusive product. Created to celebrate the automaker’s 110th anniversary (Centodieci is “110” in Italian), the stunningly expensive car features a strikingly angular shape directly inspired by the EB110 model. The Bugatti EB110 is one of the most important supercars of the 1990s and the only series model built by the brand under the leadership of Italian businessman Romano Artioli.
The Bugatti Centodieci Hypercar is powered by a brutal W-16 four-turbine engine that produces 1,600 horses and has a redline of 7,000 rpm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds, and the maximum speed is electronically limited to 390 km/h.
